Name: Alpine Lodge, St Arnaud
Location: 75 Main Road St Arnaud, St Arnaud, Saint Arnaud 7072, New Zealand
In for: Lunch
Meal: Her: Beef Nachos | Him: Lamb Shank
Impromptu stop for a late lunch after a spontaneous afternoon trip to Lake Rotoiti for a look around. Could not have ended the day any better, the lodge is absolutely beautiful and looks out at the mountains.
We settled in to eat our lunch with the fire crackling beside us, and a stunning view of St Arnaud with the rain lightly drizzling outside, making it very cosy.
The meal: 5/5
Absolutely beautiful No complaints whatsoever. Simple and hearty beef nachos with a magnificent town of guacamole, and the Other Halfs meal was perfect.
The service: 5/5
Very friendly, laidback, and relaxed. We were slightly worried we would look to underdressed for the lodge, but they made us feel so at home and served us very quickly.
The atmosphere: 5/5
Very relaxed, quiet, with a chilled out vibe.
The setting: 5/5
Just as the name suggests, the Alpine Lodge is a cosy lodge setting with lots of natural light and views, wood and stone features, a gently flickering fire, and the most comfortable and private booths to eat at.
I would definitely recommend the nachos, and the Alpine Lodge fullstop. I can’t wait to go back, and I’d love to stay there in the winter!
