In the past few months, I have made the decision to switch to cruelty free skincare and beauty (to the best of my abilities).
Recently I have been able to test out a Fitbit Charge HR wristband for the first time (a kind loan from my partners parents), after swearing I would never buy one as I didn’t think it would help me towards being fitter or healthier. I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong!
“Mindfulness – A state of active, open attention on the present. When you’re mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment and awakening to experience.” – Psychology Today Mindfulness is a buzzword at the moment, or maybe it has been around for thousands of years, and it is only now that we focus on it. Only now, when our lives are a hectic blur of learning, improving, working, living, breathing, that we suddenly have come to the realisation that if we do not stop and live in the moment, we might miss the little things that give us pleasure. Or maybe it’s just me. Either way, some days I feel like I can look back at my week or month and see a blur of events, with nothing in clear focus. Just a mash. It’s those times when I look to these websites to give me a bit of clarity, a bit of …
This weekend, I knew I wanted to do some baking. The problem was, I was totally inundated with recipes – Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, Yummly, bookmarked recipes, cook books, scraps of paper recipes taken from god knows where – I just had no idea where to start. So I thought muffins, yes that will be easy, I’ll find a quick and easy healthy-ish muffin recipe that I can use again and again with different ingredients.
I thought I’d do a review of the Ab’Asanas ebook by the Southern Yogi while it’s still fresh in my mind, I just started using it last week! And I only have good things to say about this wonderfully refreshing and challenging eBook.
I headed to the gym the other day after work, for the first time this year. It was packed. It began at the end of 2015 with the Beach-Body-goers attacking the machines in a frenzy, but yesterday, that was something else. All the New-Year’s-resolution-makers were out in full force, grunting, sweating, crying. I could scoff, but I am one of them.
These lovely ladies motivate and inspire me everyday with their dedication to health and fitness, their awesome tips and advice, and also their amazing documentation on Instagram of all their hard work and creations, take a look!
We’ve all been there – you get to the gym ready to cry and sweat, only to find out that you’ve forgotten something that’s essential to your workout (I think the worst thing I have ever forgotten was socks..that was a grossly interesting workout). After a few too many times of forgetting these super important items, I started to pack my gym back the night before, and with as much thought as I put into my actual workout. The saying ‘fail to prepare, then prepare to fail’ springs to mind here and is the mantra for most of my fitness-related posts as you will soon see 😀 Whether you are a cardio-bunny, a bodybuilding babe, or a flexy yogi, planning and preparing for your fitness lifestyle is just as important as your nutrition and workout goals.
